Absolutely Pass Cram School

A cram school routinely attended by Mizuno Ami, Osaka Naru and Umino Gurio. (057, 062, 077) It was once the subject of a random attack by the Cardian Amanju, who took the energy of two students before absconding through the window. (057) Later, a large number of the school's students were incapacitated by Promise Rings contaminated with Dark Power. (077)

Achiral

(Okiayu Ryoutarou)

A male Droid used by Esmeraude to protect a very powerful Dark Henge planted at Juuban Park. Achiral worked with his twin, Chiral, who was guarding another Dark Henge at Juuban Municipal Primary School. Both of them were extremely powerful, possessing the ability to fire huge quantities of Dark Power and move through solid objects. They could also create a solid barrier of Dark Power to trap their enemies.

Achiral and the Dark Henge were discovered by Sailor Mars and Sailor Venus. Sailor Mercury and Sailor Jupiter joined them, and Achiral told them to come to the primary school for a final battle. Achiral joined his twin at the school, which had descended into anarchy thanks to the influence of the Dark Henge.  The pair faced off against Sailor Moon, who had come to rescue Chibi Usa. The rest of the Sailor Team soon arrived, and Chiral disappeared. Achiral, meanwhile, was accompanied by Momohara Momoko, who had been corrupted by the Dark Power and tried to attack the Sailor Team. Chiral reappeared behind them and blasted Sailor Jupiter, while Achiral used the distraction to seal the Sailor Team, Chibi Usa and Momoko inside a Dark Power barrier, bombarding them with energy. As Chibi Usa struggled to help Momoko, her energy was suddenly released, neutralising the barrier but revealing her as the 'Rabbit' sought by the Black Moon Clan. The shock restored Momoko's personality, but Achiral quickly fired a burst of energy at her and Chibi Usa, hoping to kill their target. Momoko blocked the energy and was knocked out cold. Horrified, Chibi Usa let out an incredible burst of power that sent the Droids flying out of the building. Sailor Moon, Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter left the building to continue the fight. Chiral and Achiral hid in the ground and attempted a sneak attack on the Sailor Team, but were blocked by Tuxedo Kamen. Sailor Moon quickly initiated Moon Princess Halation, but the Droids tried to shelter from it under the ground. Sailor Jupiter forced them back out with Sparkling Wide Pressure, and both Chiral and Achiral were caught in Sailor Moon's attack. As they died, both of the Dark Henges shattered, and their influence over the school was removed. (081)

Adam and Eve

According to Biblical legend, Adam and Eve were the first humans. Kaioh Michiru told Tsukino Usagi and Furuhata Unazuki that Adam and Eve shared the first ever kiss. (094)

Affection Contest

A competition held to promote the opening of Lover's Park, in which couples competed against each other to prove their affection. The couples participating included Tenoh Haruka and Kaioh Michiru, Umino Gurio and Osaka Naru, and Takao and Hanako. Haruka and Michiru were clear favourites from the beginning, winning most of the events, while Naru and Umino did comparatively poorly. However, before the final event, Haruka announced that she and Michiru were withdrawing, as they had not been competing seriously. In the final event, a declaration of love, Umino tripped and fell, but eventually won the crowd over with his heartfelt speech to Naru. Umino and Naru were declared the winners, and were invited to light up the park's centrepiece, a heart-shaped statue. However, the statue had previously been infected with a Daimon Egg, and suddenly transformed into the Daimon Daiheart. The monster attacked Umino and removed his Pure Heart Crystal, but was soon defeated by the Sailor Team. The couple then took their place beneath the statue and lit it up. (095)

Ail

(Midorikawa Hikaru)

A descendant of the Makaiju. Ail and his partner An were created at some point after the Makaiju was forced to flee the destruction of its home planet. The remainder of their people died off while Ail and An were still young children, leaving them alone and unable to communicate with the Makaiju. With no knowledge of how to maintain the tree, they became mercenaries, obtaining energy in any way they could. (047, 059)

He and An travelled to different worlds with the Makaiju, eventually landing in Juuban and taking up residence in the Juuban Odyssey apartment complex. He had the ability to levitate, teleport, communicate telepathically and alter his appearance, and was skilled at playing an alien flute, which could be used to summon Cardians from their cards. With An, he was also able to control humans telepathically. (047, 048, 057)

Posing as a human named Ginga Seijuurou, he began attending Juuban Municipal Junior High School, where he became instantly popular with the female students. He quickly fell for Tsukino Usagi, although vehemently denied this to An.

It soon became clear that the Makaiju was running low on energy, and would soon become unable to feed Ail and An. An persuaded Ail to begin harvesting energy from humans, so he released the Cardian Vampir into Juuban. The commotion led to the reactivation of Sailor Moon, who destroyed the beast. Ail confronted her, and commented that he was surprised to find someone with such powers on Earth. (047)

Like his sister, Ail was perplexed by the romantic ideals he encountered on Earth, and believed that love should be taken by force. (055) Increasingly jealous of Usagi's interest in Chiba Mamoru, he eventually commanded the Cardian Amanju to kill him. However, Amanju disobeyed, much to Ail's confusion and consternation. (057) Ail was later disturbed to discover that the Makaiju was dying off, and sent the Cardian Yamandakka to collect enough energy to regenerate it. But the energy had no effect, even proving detrimental to new growth. Ail later noticed that the Makaiju seemed to react well to Usagi's energy, and conspired with An to capture her, despite the oddly warm feeling her presence gave him. While Ail distracted Mamoru, An pushed Usagi into the Makaiju's room, where Yamandakka began feeding her energy into the tree. However, the Makaiju reacted violently, and expanded to fill the apartment complex. (058)

Ail struggled to free Usagi from the tree's grasp, while An attempted to free Mamoru. Eventually, the tree released them, and they were confronted by Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus. The two aliens attacked them, prompting Usagi to transform into Sailor Moon. An taunted Ail with the fact that the woman he loved was actually their enemy, but was horrified to see Mamoru's affection towards Sailor Moon. An attacked them both, and was both amused and perplexed by their attempts to protect each other. Sailor Moon tried to explain that love originated from a desire to care and protect another, and although Ail seemed drawn by the argument, An continued to attack. Suddenly the Makaiju turned against them, knocking Ail to the ground. It to stab him with one of its branches, An instinctively tried to block it, and was killed by the branch.

This act appeared to trigger the Makaiju's conscious thought, at which point it explained its circumstances to Ail and Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon agreed to release the tree from its anger by purifying it, and the Makaiju was recreated as a tiny seedling. In the process, An was restored to life. Ail and An subsequently left Earth with the reborn Makaiju, in search of a new planet where they could raise it. (059)

Sailor Moon Episode #037; Original Airdate 19th of December, 1992.

Determined to become more like the princess she is supposed to be, Usagi decides to enlist in Countess Rose's Princess Seminar.

(Fukami Rica)

The present incarnation of Sailor Venus.

Background: A student of Shiba Park Junior High School, Minako's Sailor Senshi powers were awakened by Artemis. She was the first of the Sailor Senshi to be activated, although initially neither she nor Artemis were really aware of her mission. She assumed the moniker Sailor V, and became well known in Japan for fighting criminals, although in reality she was also fighting Youma. For several months, she stayed in London, where she worked with Interpol officer Katarina. This partnership ended when Sailor V was apparently killed in an explosion. Minako actually survived, but decided not to go back to Katarina after she discovered that she was in love with Allan, who Minako also loved. (001, 034, 042, 100)

Instead, Minako retuned to Japan, where, as Sailor Venus, she met up with the other four members of the Sailor Team. (033)

Character: Although outwardly cheerful and ditzy, Minako's character possessed hidden depths. Tsukino Usagi once observed that Minako was the most mature of the Sailor Team. (042) While this may have been debatable, Minako had been a Sailor Senshi for longer than the others and was used to operating by herself. Minako was always quick to offer pieces of faux-wisdom, usually in the form of baffling malapropisms. (034, 038) She was a talented volleyball player, but decided to quit her school's team due to the responsibilities of being a Sailor Senshi. (100) During the battle with the Death Busters, Minako became obsessed with the fact that she was the only one of the Sailor Team not to have had her Pure Heart hunted, and began donating enormous amounts of blood to prove her purity. When Eudial did manage to remove her Pure Heart Crystal, Minako somehow remained conscious, and ran away clutching the crystal until it could be returned. (109) Minako's other major obsessions  were celebrities and the pursuit of fame. She met her idol, Araki Jinta, during an audition to star alongside him in a movie. (114)

Friendships: Minako's closest companion was Artemis, who had been her advisor ever since she first became a Sailor Senshi. She was very close to Katarina during her time in London, although the friendship eventually soured. (042) Upon joining the others, she was particularly drawn to Usagi, and did her best to help her following the trauma of her memories of the Silver Millennium returning. (036)

Romance: Minako fell for Allan whilst in London, but her love remained unrequited, and Allan instead began a relationship with Katarina. Neither Allan nor Katarina had been aware of the depth of Minako's feelings for Allan, and even after her grudge against Katarina had been resolved, Allan still remained the subject of her thoughts. (042) Minako had a short-lived crush on Tenoh Haruka, after she mistook her for a man. (092) She had a long running crush on her school friend Asai Tsutomu, but the two drifted apart after Minako quit the volleyball team. (100)

Future history: In the thirtieth century, Minako was known to reside in Crystal Tokyo, where she maintained her role as Sailor Venus. (083)

The Akafuji Gunman

A Japanese western movie starring Eda Yosaku and his partner Yumi. Some of the exterior filming was carried out in Juuban Natural Park, but the session was disrupted when Mimete attempted to steal Eda's Pure Heart Crystal. The attempt was foiled by the Sailor Senshi, although both Eda and Yumi were knocked unconscious during the battle. (112)

A Youma created when an actor playing Redman was hit by a blast from Zoisite’s modified Black Crystal. A large red creature, he attacked using Marimo balls that expanded to trap victims. He was tackled unsuccessfully by Tuxedo Umino Kamen, and then more successfully by Sailor Moon, who returned him to his original form using Moon Healing Escalation. (032)

(Mita Yuko)

Home economics teacher at Juuban Municipal Junior High School, aged 34. She fell in love with a salaryman, and planned to make her own dress and compete in Juuban Hall’s “Your Handmade Wedding Dress Contest”. However, she was selected as a target by Nephrite, who implanted a Youma into her chosen fabric. From that point on, Higure became obsessed with making her wedding dress, until her energy peaked on the day of the contest. The Youma Widow was released from her dress, but was defeated by the Sailor Senshi, allowing her to return to normal. She later married her fiancé as planned. The star governing Higure’s energy was Vega. (016)

Akumuda

(Abe Michiko)

A powerful, psychic Droid owned by Calaveras. Akumuda was blue-skinned and bore a large golden horn on her forehead, which could be removed to create a long sword. Her primary method of attack was to induce sleep; an especially deep slumber in which victims would suffer traumatic dreams and ultimately use up all of their energy. She used this attack against Sailor Moon after Calaveras and Petz were caught trying to kill Chibi Usa. Sailor Moon succumbed to the attack and fell asleep, but the rest of the Sailor Team soon arrived, forcing Calaveras and Petz to flee. Akumuda used her attack against the Sailor Team, but Sailor Mars managed to incapacitate the Droid using Aku Ryo Tai San. She reverted to a dark, gaseous form, and announced that Sailor Moon would soon use up all of her energy in her dream, and die as a result. She then disappeared into Sailor Moon, who was now haunted by Chiba Mamoru's rejection of her.

Sailor Moon was only saved when Luna persuaded Mamoru to come to her assistance. Transforming into Tuxedo Kamen en route, he kissed the sleeping Sailor Moon and ended the dream. Akumuda was forced from Sailor Moon's body and returned to her humanoid form, She drew her sword and tried to attack Tuxedo Kamen, but Sailor Moon caught the Droid off-guard, killing her with the Moon Princess Halation attack. (069)

Translates as “Evil Spirits, Begone.” A phrase used to exorcise evil spirits. Hino Rei occasionally used this Shinto technique against enemies, as well as for more standard exorcism purposes. (010, 020) The technique involved attaching an ofuda bearing the phrase to the possessed person, or placing numerous such ofuda in the vicinity, then shouting the phrase. Often, the incantation “Rin-pyo-toh-sha-kai-jun-retsu-zai-zen” would also be used before the attack. (010, 020, 022) Since it was not directly connected to her powers as Sailor Mars, Rei was able to use this ability as an attack even when not transformed. (010, 048) The attack could paralyse some Youma (011) and proved critical in the defeat of Jadeite. (013) It was the only attack that was effective against the Lake Monster, a restless spirit released by Prince Endymion. (040)

Rei retained this ability after the battle with the Dark Kingdom, when her memories had been erased. She used it in a fight with the Cardian Minotauron shortly before she reawakened as Sailor Mars. (048)

Alazin

A nickname sometimes used by the actor and vocalist Araki Jinta. Aino Minako and Mimete both owned 'Alazin' T-shirts from early in the star's career. (114)

Aliens from Outer Space

A show put on by TA Academy's Fashion Designer Club as the warm-up for Hino Rei's performance at the TA Culture Festival. Club members Ougi Sakurako and Junko chose Ginga Seijuurou and Ginga Natsumi to model their bizarre creations. (054)

(Nanba Keiichi)

A man befriended by Aino Minako during her stay in London. Minako also introduced him to her mentor and colleague Katarina, with whom Allan fell in love. Unfortunately, Minako had also fallen for Allan, and was unaware of the growing affection between her two friends. After a building she and Katarina were investigating was unexpectedly blown up, Katarina believed she had been killed, and as she went to Allan for comfort, Minako suddenly realised the depth of their feelings for each other. Not wishing to intrude anymore, she left in secret. Allan and Katarina assumed Minako was dead for several months, until Katarina eventually discovered that she was still alive and had returned to Japan. (042)

Amaderasu

(Ohno Yuka)

A Cardian chosen by Ail and An to harvest energy from babies. She had the power of the sun, and was able to drain energy via a system of tiny tendrils extending from her hands. She could also create floating energy bubbles to trap victims. Amaderasu successfully attacked the Juuban Municipal Nursery School, taking energy from most of the babies, staff and parents, including Manami's mother. Hino Rei used a flame reading to identify the monster's aura, then called the Sailor Team into action when she detected it again. Amaderasu went to  attack the Good Friends Nursery School, and was confronted by the Sailor Team. She created a human shield by sealing the babies into energy bubbles and surrounding herself with them. The Moonlight Knight attacked her and disrupted her control of the bubbles, releasing the babies. Sailor Mercury attacked her with a new power, Shabon Spray Freezing, freezing her solid. Sailor Moon took the opportunity to use Moon Princess Halation and destroyed the Cardian. (053)

(Wakamoto Norio)

Popular jazz pianist employed by Jam Records. His compositions included Rain from the Heart, Moonlight Lady and A Waltz for Akiko, named for Yanagi Akiko, a company employee with whom he was in love. After the Dark Kingdom planted a cassette containing energy-draining soundwaves in the record company’s studios, Yusuke was mistakenly given the cassette by Akiko, and was then chased by Kyurene, a Youma. With the help of Sailor Moon, the plot was foiled and he gained an opportunity to confess his love to Akiko, who he later married. (006)

Amanju

(Hyoudo Mako)

An agile Cardian selected by Ail for an energy-harvesting operation. However, Amanju repeatedly disobeyed Ail's commands, running amok through the city and doing as she pleased. Ail first ordered her to kill Chiba Mamoru by taking all of his energy, but the Cardian fled. She broke into the Absolutely Pass Cram School and took the energy of two of the students there, before escaping through the window. Ail caught up with her and tried to reign her in, but she ignored him and took the energy of Sakurada Haruna and Kouichi, who were walking in the park. Eventually, Ail gave in and told Amanju to just take any human energy- at which point she began taking energy from ducks instead. When she was confronted by Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus, Ail commanded her to fight, but instead she fled again. She broke into Juuban Municipal Junior High School, where Tsukino Usagi and Ginga Natsumi were in detention, before being challenged by the Sailor Team outside. On this occasion, she did attack, and proved to be difficult for the Sailor Team to handle. Usagi sneaked out of the classroom and transformed into Sailor Moon. Having unwittingly had some of her energy drained by An, Sailor Moon was weakened and was almost caught by Amanju, but the Moonlight Knight intervened for long enough for Sailor Moon to get her energy back and destroy the monster. (057)

Ambition of Silence, The

A sand sculpture created by the Daimon Chokokkar, designated 'Work Number 002'. The Daimon then added one of her earrings to the sculpture, transforming it into a large, vaguely humanoid statue composed of spherical units. Claiming it was avant-garde art, Chokokkar commanded the statue to attack Sailor Neptune. It gave chase, but overbalanced at the edge of the river and fell in, dissolving. Realising that the statues were vulnerable to water, Sailor Neptune informed Sailor Uranus to use the same tactic against Chokokkar's other creation, Beyond the Massacre. After destroying the other statue, the two Sailor Senshi returned to Chokokkar and attacked, realising that her weakness was also water. (107)

A charm to bring good luck. Hikawa Shrine was famous for its amulets for love and good health. Jadeite once used these amulets to hypnotise girls into giving up their energy. (010) Kino Makoto and Aino Minako advertised the amulets with a surprising amount of success while working temporarily at the shrine. (054)

(Touma Yumi)

A descendant of the Makaiju and the partner of Ail. An was created with Ail at some point after the Makaiju was forced to flee the destruction of its home planet. The pair wandered through the universe on the Makaiju until they landed in Juuban. Like Ail, An had the ability to change her appearance, teleport, communicate telepathically and levitate, and was said to be able to predict the future. With Ail, she was also able to inflict mind control on humans. (047, 048, 057) Other abilities included firing pulses of energy and generating force fields to trap victims. (055)

After settling at the Juuban Odyssey apartment complex, An took on the identity of Ginga Natsumi, and began attending Juuban Municipal Junior High School. She was placed in Sakurada Haruna's homeroom class, and claimed to have recently returned from a long stay abroad. Prone to fits of jealousy, An was infuriated by Ail's flirtation with other women, particularly Tsukino Usagi. Ironically though, she was also interested in Chiba Mamoru. (047) An strongly believed that love should be "taken by force", an opinion that Mamoru evidently disagreed with. (050)

When she discovered that the Makaiju was no longer generating enough energy to sustain them, she persuaded Ail to replenish it with human energy. Thus began a routine whereby An would choose a Cardian, which would be summoned by Ail and sent out to take energy. (047) An did not always rely on Cardians, however, and was quite capable of extracting reasonable amounts of energy from humans in order to sustain herself in a crisis. (048)

Ail and An eventually discovered that the Makaiju was dying off, and sent the Cardian Yamandakka to collect enough energy to regenerate it. But the energy had no effect, even proving detrimental to new growth. Noticing that the tree reacted favourably to Usagi's energy. they decided to capture her. Anaemia

A lack of red blood cells, resulting in tiredness and fatigue. Kino Makoto suffered from anaemia after donating a large amount of blood to save her friend Shinozaki. This briefly affected her performance as Sailor Jupiter, but evidently the condition soon passed. (049)

A deceased character in Katakuri Ukon's manga series, Drop Drop. At one point in the story, Drop was accused of being responsible for his death, (113)

Andromeda

In Greek mythology, a princess who was rescued by the hero Perseus from a sea monster. Ail, who admired Perseus, told An that he wanted to protect her as if she were Andromeda. Later, he told Tsukino Usagi that she was his Andromeda, and was about to play her Galaxy Fantasy Impromptu No. 5: Beautiful Andromeda's Miracle when he was apprehended by a furious An. (047) During his planetarium show, Thomas Harris discussed the legend of Andromeda and Perseus. (119)

A strange child, claiming to be called Tsukino Usagi, appears from the sky and demands the Silver Crystal from Usagi.

An old enemy of Redman, who appeared in the Redman Show: Monster Fighter Redman. The actor portraying Aodine was trapped in a Marimo ball when Zoisite accidentally transformed Redman into the Youma Akan. (032)

Araki Jinta

(Tobita Nobuo)

A famous vocalist and actor, also known as Alazin. By the age of eighteen, he had appeared in numerous publications such as Love-Love Araki-kun, and his latest single, Blue Crisis Love, was expected to be a big hit. He was pragmatic about his role as a teen idol, recognising that hi fame would most likely bee fleeting, and he would soon be forgotten by his fans. Both Aino Minako and Mimete were longstanding fans of Araki, so they were excited when he announced a competition, the Heroine Audition, to choose a female co-star for his forthcoming movie. Both girls entered the competition, with Mimete intending to use it as cover to steal Araki's Pure Heart Crystal. She considered abandoning the Death Busters when it looked like she was close to winning, but when she failed to get enough votes, she flew into a rage, releasing the Daimon U-Tahime and ordering her to take Araki's Pure Heart Crystal. The Daimon complied, sucking the crystal out, but the Sailor Team appeared and a battle ensued. Araki's crystal was soon retrieved and returned to him. (114)

Artemis

(Takato Yasuhiro)

An intelligent cat with powers of speech who originally acted as a guardian for Sailor V, later Sailor Venus. Like Luna, he had a crescent moon mark on his forehead that was the apparent origin of his power. Artemis supplied Aino Minako with her first transformation pen, allowing her to become Sailor V for the first time, but initially neither of them were aware of their exact purpose or origins. (033, 036)

Artemis originated from the Silver Millennium, where he and Luna were advisors to Queen Serenity and Princess Serenity. Following the collapse of the kingdom, the dying Queen Serenity instructed Luna and Artemis to find and assist the reincarnated Moon Princess and Sailor Senshi, should Queen Metalia ever be revived. The Moon Stick of that era sealed both cats into cold sleep until their presence was required again. (035, 044)

It wasn't until Luna began awakening the other Sailor Senshi that Artemis began communicating with her, and the two cats began to piece together their fragmentary memories of their past lives. (008) During this time, Luna was unaware that she was speaking to Artemis, apparently believing him to be an unknown higher authority. The cats were eventually reunited when Sailor Venus joined the others... although it wasn't until some time later that Luna discovered that her mysterious contact was in fact merely Artemis. (033, 037) When the Silver Crystal reappeared and Sailor Moon transformed into Princess Serenity for the first time, Artemis' memories finally returned. (035)

Artemis and Minako discovered the portal to the Dark Kingdom in Le Crepe. He and Luna went on ahead of the Sailor Senshi, whose path was then blocked by Kunzite. The two cats emerged outside the Dark Kingdom's base at D Point, but when they attempted to turn back they were attacked by Kunzite. They were only saved when the Sailor Senshi returned and Kunzite was killed. The attack left both cats wounded but alive. (044) They remained in Juuban while the Sailor Senshi went off to fight the final battle with the Dark Kingdom, and were the only ones to retain their memories after the Dark Kingdom was destroyed. (045, 046)

Artemis and Luna continued to watch the girls as they returned to their normal lives, but were forced to take action when Ail and An released the Cardian Vampir into Juuban. They were unable to fight it by themselves, and when the monster tried to attack Usagi, Artemis created a diversion while Luna restored Usagi's memories, allowing her to become Sailor Moon again. Artemis had some of his energy drained by the Cardian, but was rescued when Sailor Moon intervened and killed it. (047) Soon after, Artemis was properly reunited with Minako when Luna restored the memories of the other Sailor Senshi. (048)

Artemis had a serious disagreement with Luna after her mockery of him reached an unacceptable level. He tried to restore his honour by doing something impressive, and inadvertently stumbled upon Esmeraude's operation in the Great Animal Kingdom. He later proved crucial in Sailor Moon's defeat of the Droid Dogba, and although Luna apparently now recognised his bravery, her teasing continued largely unabated. (079)

Sailor Moon R Episode #079; Original Airdate 25th of December, 1993.

After Luna wounds his pride one too many times, Artemis sets out on a mission to prove his worth, and stumbles upon Esmeraude's latest plot.

(Endou Miyako)

A paparazzo and journalist, resident in the Azabu Apartment complex, who was a freelance contributor to magazines such as Surprise. She was brainwashed by Kunzite and given the power to transform into the Youma Oniwabandana. Her mission was to spy on the Sailor Senshi on behalf of the Dark Kingdom. During this period her productivity increased dramatically, and she was soon an acclaimed journalist in many fields.

In her Youma form, she observed a fight between the Sailor Senshi. She brought pictures of the battle to Kunzite and Queen Beryl, and was ordered to investigate further. In order to attract the attention of the Sailor Senshi, she raided the Osa-P jewellers. The Senshi soon arrived and started arguing, at which point she slipped away, transformed back into Nana, and photographed them. She attempted to conduct an interview, but only Sailor Moon would answer her questions. The following day, Nana tried again to obtain more information, this time by pestering Tsukino Usagi and Osaka Naru.

Shortly afterwards, Nana's article was published. It suggested that the Sailor Senshi were on the verge of a breakup. The next day, Tsukino Usagi delivered a message from Sailor Moon, declaring that she wished to join the Dark Kingdom. The message was passed on to Kunzite, who decided to investigate Sailor Moon's offer.

In a face-off at Juuban Cemetery, Oniwabandana discovered that the conflict between the Senshi had been manufactured so that Sailor Moon could infiltrate the Dark Kingdom. With this knowledge, she attacked Sailor Moon, forcing the others to intervene and help her. Although Kunzite fled, Sailor Moon used Moon Healing Escalation to return Nana to her original self. (043)

Asai Tsutomu

(Kanemaru Junichi)

A student of Shiba Park Junior High School and a member of the volleyball team. Initially Asai looked up to Aino Minako, the team's star player, and decided that he would ask her on a date after he made the first team. However, Minako quit the team in the interim, and Asai eventually opted to date the team's manager.

Asai was targeted by the Daimon Haikyun during a practice session, and had his Pure Heart Crystal removed by the monster. In his semi-conscious state, he saw Sailor Venus and the rest of the Sailor Team battling the Daimon to retrieve his Pure Heart Crystal, and was amazed to see Sailor Venus performing Minako's Flying Roll Receive. He realised that Minako was Sailor Venus, but once his Pure Heart Crystal was returned, he decided not to let on, instead telling Minako to pass on his thanks to Sailor Venus. (100)

A senior employee of Studio Dive, and the director of Sailor V: The Movie. Asatou was generally accompanied by his baby, and had a habit of confusing his animators with cryptic comments about their work. Matsuno Hiromi suspected that he wanted the designs for Sailor V to be more sexy, although he strongly denied this. He later gave Hiromi the task of overseeing the movie’s final scene. (021)

Director Asatou is named after Sailor Moon series director Satou Junichi. His baby was voiced by Hisakawa Aya.

Ashley

(Egawa Hisao)

The leader of a pack of stray cats in Juuban. Ashley and his accomplices took exception to Luna's presence in their part of town, and started chasing her. Luna was only saved by the intervention of Rhett Butler, a huge tomcat who even Ashley feared. Ashley and his gang later pursued Luna again, but Rhett Butler returned to rescue her. (031)

Ashley was not named on-screen, and was credited merely as "Boss Cat", but the second Nakayoshi Guide reveals his real name.

Atsuge Shouko

(Kobayashi Yuuko)

A human identity assumed by the Droid Atsugessho while running the Otafukuya cosmetics store on behalf of Berthier, who had hijacked the business. After a dispute with Tsukino Usagi, the Droid revealed her true form. (061)

Only the name "Atsuge" appears on the character's nametag, but the Sailor Moon R Nakayoshi guide gives "Atsuge Shouko" as her full name.

Atsugessho

(Kobayashi Yuuko)

A Droid used by Berthier to run the hijacked Otafukuya cosmetics store and sell her range of Happy Clown Cosmetics. Atsugessho assumed a human identity, Atsuge Shouko, while she was running the store. She promoted the cosmetics as a way to make men fall in love with girls. Tsukino Usagi, in an emotional state after being dumped by Chiba Mamoru, disputed her claim and got into a violent argument after she refused to try the makeup. The rest of the customers quickly left, and the angry clerk revealed her Droid identity. In this form, she was able to expel streams of highly corrosive makeup from her mouth, and used a giant powder puff as a weapon. Luna intervened to distract the monster, while Usagi transformed into Sailor Moon. Atsugessho cornered Sailor Moon but was challenged by Tuxedo Kamen. She tried to spray him with makeup, but he deflected the stream back onto her, erasing the features from her face. While the Droid desperately tried to re-apply her face, Sailor Moon attacked her with Moon Princess Halation and killed her. (061)

Avogadora

(Nanba Chieko)

A Droid owned by Calaveras, whose arsenal included explosive avocados, the Banaknife and the Peeled Lychee Bomber attack. She assisted Calaveras and Petz in their mission to contaminate the Crystal Point beneath Juuban Supermarket with Dark Power. Avogadora adopted a human disguise and assisted the others in promoting the Dark Power-contaminated Dark Fruit to the supermarket's customers. Once the customers and most of the store had been infected with Dark Power, Calaveras ordered Avogadora to complete the contamination process. Avogadora reverted to her Droid form and began pouring Dark Power into the building. She was then challenged by Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars, but retaliated with her avocado bombs. Tuxedo Kamen came to their aid and duelled with the Droid, eventually driving her back. Sailor Moon took the opportunity to destroy Avogadora with Moon Princess Halation. (066)

Avogadora's ownership is debatable, as she works with both Calaveras and Petz, but it is Calaveras who gives her orders.

Chibi Usa invites Hotaru to a show at the planetarium, while Mimete plans to steal the Pure Heart Crystal of the DJ Thomas Harris.

Aya

(Kasahara Rumi)

A friend of Yui and a fan of the Sailor Team. She and Yui discussed the relative merits of the various Sailor Senshi at some length during a visit to the Dam Cam cafe. Their conversation was overheard by Tsukino Usagi and Chibi Usa. Despite her detailed knowledge of the Sailor Team, Aya had to be reminded of Sailor Moon's existence by a frustrated Usagi. (MUSS)

Azabu Apartment

An expensive condominium. Tsukino Usagi visited the complex in order to deliver a message from Sailor Moon to the journalist Asahina Nana, who owned an apartment there. (043)

Azabu General Hospital

The hospital to which the victims of Amaderasu's attack on the Juuban Municipal Nursery School were taken. The babies were able to leave within a week, and the doctors predicted that Manami's Mother would recover in three days. Manami himself was unharmed, having been protected by his mother, but with his mother incapacitated, Chiba Mamoru agreed to take care of him. Manami's mother ultimately recovered a day earlier than predicted. (053)

Azimov, Sergei

(Hashi Takaya)

A theoretical physicist specialising in alternate universes. He was invited to give a lecture at Mugen Academy, and identified as a target for Pure Heart removal by Mimete. Professor Tomoe Souichi subsequently told Mimete that the mission was cancelled, while surreptitiously handing it over to Tellu. Mimete discovered this, however, and tried to convince Tellu that the mission was on hold so that she could carry it out herself.

Azimov's lecture took place in a large lecture theatre and was broadcast throughout the academy. Mimete appeared during the lecture and interrupted it, incapacitating the audience with her Charm Buster attack, then releasing her Daimon, U-Pasokon. The Daimon sucked out Azimov's Pure Heart Crystal and swallowed it, but the Sailor Team arrived and a battle ensued. U-Pasokon was eventually destroyed, and Azimov's Pure Heart Crystal was returned to him. (120)
