Papillon
Papillon took the form of a butterfly-like Youma with greenish-yellow skin. She had the power of flight and her right arm could transform into an axe-like appendage. Her main weapon was her ability to generate energy fields that resembled storms of butterflies. These could be used either for defence or to envelop and shock an enemy. The Youma attacked Minako as she stood outside, forcing her to transform into Sailor Venus. However, Papillon retained Katarina's knowledge of Sailor V's battle techniques, and was able to anticipate her counterattacks. For her part, Venus immediately recognised Papillon as Katarina by the necklace she gave her for her birthday. Although Papillon clearly had the upper hand, she was briefly incapacitated by Luna and Artemis and knocked over a guard rail into Tokyo Bay. By the time she recovered, Sailor Venus and the cats had already escaped on a boat with the help of Tsukino Usagi. She followed the boat and eventually found them hiding aboard a cruise liner. Usagi confronted the Youma as Sailor Moon, now also aware of Katarina's betrayal of Minako. Fuelled by anger, Sailor Moon went all out against the Youma, and had to be stopped by Minako, who ultimately didn't want to hurt Katarina. Once Papillon's guard was down, Sailor Moon used Moon Healing Escalation to restore her original form and personality. (042)
Parlour BearA Juuban cafe in which Tsukino Usagi and Urawa Ryou discussed Urawa's crush on Mizuno Ami. (027)
An attack used by the Droid Avogadora, in which she removed one of her earrings and threw it at the enemy. She used this attack against Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars, but it was blocked by one of Tuxedo Kamen's roses, and the bomb failed to detonate. (066)
Peking DuckA Chinese delicacy that Umino Gurio hoped to try during his visit to Chinatown. (026)
Pension AdamsA hotel booked by Hino Rei when she, Tsukino Usagi, Mizuno Ami and Luna went on a vacation for training purposes. It was located close to Inaka Hama station, and was apparently very cheap. The brochure read: “The blue ocean! And yachts sailing with their white sails unfurled. A European-style pension on the headland with a great view of the sunset. A white, private beach is just waiting for you!” However, the primary selling points of the hotel were said to be its good food and the horror costumes worn by its employees. The proprietor was Sakiko's Father, who also lived there with Sakiko. The building was routinely affected by paranormal phenomena, much to the consternation of the employees. The disturbances were also the reason that the hotel and its private beach were generally deserted. The truth behind the apparitions was discovered by Mizuno Ami, who found Sakiko being hypnotised by her father and forced to create the illusions as a demonstration of her psychic powers: the hotel's guests were being used as test subjects. The practice ceased when the spirit created by Sakiko raged out of control and tried to attack her father- following this, he acknowledged his daughter's independence and put an end to the illusions, much to the relief of the staff. (020)
A hero of Greek mythology, who rescued Andromeda from a sea monster after an arduous journey. Ail saw himself as Perseus, wishing to protect his Andromeda... who was either An or Tsukino Usagi, depending on the circumstances. (047) During his planetarium show, Thomas Harris discussed the legend of Andromeda and Perseus. (119) Precisely how an alien who had just arrived on Earth would be familiar with Greek mythology is anybody's guess.
Petasos
Petasos RopeAn attack used by the Youma Petasos against Sailor Mercury. Her hair became a mass of vines that stretched out and constricted her victim. (015)
Pet Shop PerfumeA business established by the Dark Kingdom to spread chanelas. The store was run by the Youma Iguara, disguised as a human, and operated a curious policy whereby customers apparently didn't have to pay for their chanelas. The hypnotised chanela owners were later compelled to return to the store in order to release the animals into the city, but Sailor Moon was able to stop them. (005)
Pet Shop RopeA Juuban pet shop. Luna observed the behaviour of the kittens there in an effort to work out how to persuade Tsukino Shingo to like her. (005)
After Koan defected to the Sailor Team's side, Petz disowned her, keen to prove her loyalty to Rubeus. Later, after Berthier succeeded in trapping the Sailor Team, Petz and Calaveras appeared at the last moment to share in the glory. However, when Berthier's plan went awry they quickly left, leaving their sister to fend for herself. This action prompted Berthier to join Koan and abandon the Black Moon Clan. (071) Soon after, Rubeus sent Petz and Calaveras on a mission to kill the Sailor Team, giving Petz a staff that greatly increased her power. The duo kidnapped Koan and Berthier, using them as bait to lure the Sailor Team into a battle. The Sailor Team turned up to battle them, and struggled against Petz's overwhelming power. However, the staff was beginning to exert an influence over Petz's personality, forcing her to attack Calaveras as well as her enemies. Sailor Venus separated Petz from the staff, prompting Rubeus to appear and activate the weapon's true power, creating a black hole. Rubeus then left, announcing that he never expected Petz and Calaveras to defeat the Sailor Team. Petz tried in vain to destroy the staff, but was unsuccessful. Fortunately, the Sailor Team entered the black hole and used their combined power to destroy the staff, collapsing the anomaly. Petz and Calaveras agreed to be purified by Sailor Moon, and were reunited with their sisters. The Phantom Sisters eventually set up a cosmetics business in Tokyo called Beauty Quartette. (072) Petz was later reunited with Saphir, after he arrived in the twentieth century pursued by Wiseman. Saphir was already seriously injured from his last encounter with the sorcerer, and Petz took him to her house and dressed his injuries. She feared that Saphir had come to punish her and her sisters, but he told her not to worry. Despite the danger, he insisted on going to speak to Prince Dimande about Wiseman. He left his jacket with her, saying he would be back for it, but he was killed by Wiseman before he could talk to his brother. (086) The only known Droid used by Petz was: Furaiki. (064)
Four sisters of the Black Moon Clan who were employed by Rubeus. They were taken to the past in order to find and destroy the Silver Crystal and the 'Rabbit'. From youngest to oldest, they were Koan, Berthier, Calaveras and Petz. (060, 063, 064, 068) Each sister apparently had jurisdiction over a different area of Tokyo. (070) During their time with Rubeus, the sisters often squabbled about trivial matters such as fashion and make up, although this hinted at a more sinister animosity lurking below the surface. (064) Soon, however, a momentous chain of events was put into motion after Rubeus betrayed Koan and she defected to the enemy, allowing Sailor Moon to purify her and remove the Black Moon Clan's influence on her. (070) Shortly afterwards, Berthier also defected after her older sisters abandoned her following a defeat. (071) Rubeus sent Petz and Calaveras to kill the Sailor Team, giving Petz a staff that increased her power significantly. However, the staff also affected Petz's personality and emotions, and had been deliberately sabotaged by Rubeus. The pair kidnapped Koan and Berthier to use as bait, and the Sailor Team turned up to fight them. When it became obvious that the staff was both influencing Petz and boosting her power, Sailor Venus knocked the item from her hands. Rubeus then appeared and activated the staff's true power, creating a black hole that would absorb both the Sailor Team and the Phantom Sisters. Fortunately the staff was destroyed by the combined power of the Sailor Team, and Petz and Calaveras, shocked by Rubeus' betrayal, agreed to be purified by Sailor Moon. Following this ordeal, the sisters established a business, Beauty Quartette, selling cosmetics in Tokyo. (072) The sisters encountered their former superior, Saphir, once more as the Black Moon Clan attempted to open a Dark Gate in the city. Saphir had discovered that Wiseman was plotting against the clan, and was fleeing from the sorcerer who had already injured him. Petz, who had long been in love with Saphir, brought him back to their house and treated his injuries. Saphir bore no resentment towards the sisters, but was determined to speak to Prince Dimande at any cost. He left the sisters to confront his brother, and although Koan called the Sailor Team for help, Saphir was killed by Wiseman. (086)
Pharaoh 90 planned to cross over to Earth and bring about the Silence, and was aided in this quest by Germatoid and Mistress 9. To allow Pharaoh 90 to achieve the dimensional crossover, Mistress 9 had to obtain the Holy Grail. (124) She eventually achieved this and transferred the artefact's power to Pharaoh 90, but after this, Pharaoh 90 was apparently no longer concerned for her wellbeing, and subjected her to a dangerous blast of energy as he materialised on Earth. Mistress 9 was subsequently expelled from Tomoe Hotaru's body as the girl awakened as Sailor Saturn. Sailor Saturn used her incredible powers to destroy Pharaoh 90 from the inside, an act which, she informed Sailor Moon, would also precipitate her own death. With the help of her companions, Sailor Moon transformed into Super Sailor Moon and entered Pharaoh 90, managing to retrieve the reborn Hotaru before the entity ceased to exist. (125)

The magical staff used by Sailor Chibi Moon when she first came to the twentieth century to train. It was used to perform Pink Sugar Heart Attack, with generally unpredictable results. (103, 121) The staff was capable of performing the attack even when not being held by Sailor Chibi Moon. (127) The Pink Moon Stick is referred to by name only once, in Episode 121.
The transformation brooch used by Chibi Usa to transform into Sailor Chibi Moon. (103) The transformation phrase required to use it was "Moon Prism Power, Make Up". (104)
An instrument housed in the Marine Cathedral. During her plot to steal the talismans contained within Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, Eudial sat at the instrument and pretended to play it. However, the music was actually provided by a portable CD player. (110)

Princess SeminarA series of classes held by the English aristocrat Countess Rose at the Rose Mansion, designed to teach refined behaviour to girls. Membership usually required a reference from another pupil, and one of the entry requirements was an ability to throw a frisbee well. In reality, the seminar was a complex plan by Kunzite of the Dark Kingdom, who had brainwashed Countess Rose in an effort to discover the true identity of Sailor Moon. Having observed Sailor Moon in battle, Kunzite realised that she was incredibly clumsy, but her skill with Moon Tiara Action would make her excellent at throwing frisbees. The Countess assessed each girl, looking for one who failed the seminar but was good at the frisbee. For some time, all of the students passed the course, upon which the Countess would transform into the Youma Shakoukai and spray the graduates with green liquid, freezing them into wax models. Eventually, the Countess admitted Tsukino Usagi to the Princess Seminar, on the strength of her frisbee ability. Usagi proved to be terrible in such areas as eating quietly, speaking politely and dancing, but was later joined by Mizuno Ami, Hino Rei, Kino Makoto and Aino Minako who sought to encourage her. When the four girls appeared at the final assessment, a ball, the Countess assumed that they were students and passed Ami and Makoto. They were taken into a separate room with the other graduates, where the Countess transformed into Shakoukai and turned them into wax models. Shakoukai came back to Usagi, Rei and Minako, the only girls to fail the seminar, and declared that one of them was Sailor Moon. The girls managed to escape the building and transform, but their attacks proved to be useless against Shakoukai, whose jets of green wax rendered them useless. Eventually the stalemate was disrupted by the brainwashed Prince Endymion, who told Shakoukai not to kill Sailor Moon, but to concentrate on getting the Silver Crystal. Kunzite appeared too, angry at Endymion for interfering with his mission, and told Shakoukai to kill Sailor Moon. Shakoukai stalled, confused by the contradictory orders, and Sailor Moon used the opportunity to attack her with Moon Healing Escalation. Shakoukai was turned back into Countess Rose, and her magic was undone, freeing the trapped students. Declaring the mission a failure, Kunzite and Endymion withdrew. (037)
A combination of self defence and callisthenics created by Rei's Grandfather in an effort to attract more young women to the Hikawa Shrine following the a damaging article in Nanako magazine. Kumada Yuuichirou was made the head coach of the enterprise. Although Rei's Grandfather failed to entice any attractive young women into the project, only managing to enlist Chibi Usa, Yuuichirou was more successful and returned to the shrine with a horde of new recruits. Unfortunately, the enterprise was doomed to failure as it coincided with Koan's mission to infect the Crystal Point beneath the shrine with Dark Power. Koan infused the project's wrestling ring with Dark Power, then returned the next day as a customer, accompanied by the disguised Droid Dumble. Koan and Dumble persuaded Rei's Grandfather to make them coaches, much to Yuuichirou's annoyance. Soon, the Dark Power took effect, and the women began fighting viciously, egged on by Dumble's violent tactics. Eventually, Rei's Grandfather tried to intervene, and the women turned on him, he managed to fight them off, but Dumble, revealing her Droid form, proved significantly more powerful. Hino Rei rushed to protect her grandfather, despite her previous anger at his rejection of Yuuichirou. Tsukino Usagi was alerted to the Droid's activity and transformed into Sailor Moon, initiating a battle that ended with the defeat of Dumble and Koan. Following the failure of Project Esthe, Rei's Grandfather began another collaboration with Yuuichirou, Project Jazz Dance. (063)
A fitness regime established by Rei's Grandfather at the Hikawa Shrine after the failure of Project Esthe. It appeared to involve nothing more than very light exercise, and Kumada Yuuichirou and Chibi Usa were the only known participants. (063)
Novelty bracelets that were popularised by the Misanga Mansion's business. The bracelets were said to grant the wishes of their makers once they were broken. Osaka Naru and Umino Gurio introduced Tsukino Usagi to the bracelets, and invited her to join them at the Promise Ring classes held in the Misanga Mansion. However, the business had been infiltrated by Esmeraude and her Droid, Udering, who had discovered the building was situated on a Negative Point. A Dark Henge had been planted on top of the building, while Udering, disguised as a teacher, gave the visiting students Promise Ring materials contaminated with Dark Power. That night, the Promise Rings began to drain the energy of their owners. Sailor Moon confronted Udering at the Misanga Mansion, and after a battle both the Droid and the Dark Henge were destroyed, rendering the Promise Rings harmless. (077)

Ptilol was summoned to join Cyprine in a battle against the Sailor Team. The pair proved impossible for the Sailor Team to fight, as attacking one simply provoked retaliation from the other. Eventually, Sailor Mercury obscured their vision using Shabon Spray, then Sailor Jupiter managed to persuade Cyprine to chase after her. The twins now separated, attempted to fire Ribbon Busters at the Sailor Team but unwittingly fired on each other. The force of the attacks was enough to kill both of them. (123) It is never made clear precisely what Ptilol really is, or how she is associated with the Witches 5 and Death Busters. One possibility is that she is literally Cyprine's twin, while another is that she is some sort of extension of Cyprine's psyche. Given that they can apparently think independently of each other, the evidence seems to point to the former possibility.
A concept enthusiastically explained by Tsukino Usagi to George and Ned at Edwards' party, while she was drunk. According to Usagi: "You take eggs, milk and sugar, and stir it all up. Then you put a lid on it and steam it for thirty minutes. Oh, and if you forget the whipped cream, you're no good as a woman." The students apparently thought that this was a complex metaphor for the Theory of Relativity. (108)

A quality possessed by individuals of an especially gifted or altruistic nature. The Death Busters believed that the three Talismans were concealed within Pure Hearts, so initiated a series of operations to look for them. The physical manifestation of the Pure Heart was the Pure Heart Crystal, which could be extracted by Daimons or Eudial's Capture Gun. (090, 103)
A physical manifestation of the Pure Heart. The crystals could be extracted from their owners by Daimons or the Capture Gun, and were sought by the Death Busters in their search for the three Talismans. (090, 103) Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune also sought them for this purpose, but simply intercepted the crystals as Daimons were in the process of stealing them. Removal of a Pure Heart Crystal usually caused its owner to become extremely pale and lose consciousness. (090) In rare cases, a victim could regain consciousness after the crystal was removed, albeit with unpredictable results. Furahata Unazuki, having been deprived of her Pure Heart Crystal for some time, partially regained consciousness and began to exhibit bizarre behaviour. (094) The strangest case was that of Aino Minako, who caught her Pure Heart Crystal as it was removed and then ran away, apparently still capable of conscious (if not entirely rational) thought. After a few minutes of this exertion, she eventually lost consciousness. (109) Fortunately, the crystals could be taken back into the body easily if returned, and the victim suffered no long term ill effects. (090) Kaolinite believed that a Pure Heart Crystal's brightness was indicative of its chances of being a talisman: Tsukino Usagi's crystal was exceptionally bright, leading her to believe that it must be a talisman. Sailor Neptune disagreed, however, pointing out that the brightness of the crystal indicated the degree of purity, but had no bearing on whether or not it was a talisman. (102) After Kaolinite was killed in battle, Professor Tomoe Souichi chose Eudial of the Witches 5 to continue the process of removing Pure Heart Crystals. Eudial used a computer to search for likely targets, and performed the extraction process herself with the aid of her Capture Gun: a weapon capable of blasting a person's Pure Heart Crystal out of their body in an instant. (103) Ultimately, she discovered that two of the talismans were contained within the pure hearts of Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. (110) Although the removal of the talismans almost killed them, Sailor Pluto used the Garnet Orb to separate their Pure Heart Crystals from the talismans, allowing them to keep both. (111) While the appearance of the Holy Grail meant that it was no longer necessary for the Death Busters to remove Pure Heart Crystals in search of talismans, the organisation began to take steps to ensure that they would be able to use the Grail. The Messiah of Silence insisted that she needed energy before she could use the Holy Grail, so the professor modified his existing strategies, hoping to harvest Pure Heart Crystals that could be turned into an energy source. Inspired by the method used by cormorants to catch fish, he designed a new series of Daimons capable of sucking out a victim's Pure Heart Crystal and storing it in the throat for later extraction and use. Mimete was entrusted with this latest operation. (112) Following Mimete's death, the professor decided that a change of tactics was required, and Tellu came up with a new strategy. Her new breed of plant, the Tellun, was able to extract Pure Heart Crystals which could then be collected in a small holding device. The plan failed after she was discovered by the Sailor Senshi and was killed by her own Hyper Tellun. (121) Viluy then took charge, with a plan to steal Pure Heart Crystals from the students taking the national practice exams at Mugen Academy. Using nano robots integrated with the school's computer system, Viluy succeeded in extracting the crystals through the students' computer terminals, but the crystals returned to their owners after she was killed and her control device was destroyed. (122) Cyprine then summoned the academy's students under hypnosis, forcing them to release their Pure Heart Crystals, which were collected in a statue of the Messiah of Silence. However, Cyprine was killed shortly afterwards during a battle with the Sailor Team, and the statue was destroyed, releasing the crystals and allowing them to return to their owners. Meanwhile, the resurrected Kaolinite succeeded in capturing Chibi Usa. She was taken to the basement of Mugen Academy, and her Pure Heart Crystal was removed and swallowed by the Messiah of Silence. With the power of Chibi Usa's Pure Heart, the Messiah of Silence finally awoke, transforming into her true form, Mistress 9. Without her Pure Heart Crystal, Chibi Usa was kept alive by Chiba Mamoru, who connected his soul to hers. (123) The crystal was eventually returned to her by Sailor Saturn. (125) Having lost the Holy Grail, and thus the ability to become Super Sailor Moon, Sailor Moon removed her own Pure Heart Crystal, aided by energy from her companions. Using the crystal, she was able to transform into Super Sailor Moon and rescue Tomoe Hotaru from Pharaoh 90's core before the entity ceased to exist. (125) After the fall of the Death Busters, one final attempt to seize Pure Heart Crystals occurred. This was carried out by Rangy, the last Daimon, who collected a large number of crystals in a giant flask. After her defeat, the crystals were apparently returned to their owners. (127) Individuals who were targeted by the Death Busters for their Pure Hearts were: Hino Rei (090), Miharu (091), Kameda (092), Igarashi Takuzou (093), Furuhata Unazuki (094), Umino Gurio (095), Kino Makoto (096), Mizuno Ami (097), Yamada Katsutoshi (098) and Kumada Yuuichirou (099), Asai Tsutomu (100), Tsukino Usagi (101, 102), Tohno Maya (103), Tamasaburou (104), Yakushiji Kakusui(105), Elza Gray (106), Tsuzuki Masanori (107), Edwards (108), Aino Minako (109), Kaioh Michiru, Tenoh Haruka (110), Eda Yosaku (112), Katakuri Ukon (113), Araki Jinta (114), Kazama Yuu (115), Kurebaysahi Yoshiki (116), Hayase Shun (117), Thomas Harris (119), Sergei Azimov (120) and Chibi Usa. (123) With the exception of Kazama Yuu and Thomas Harris, all of these people had their Pure Heart Crystals extracted and then returned. Kazama and Harris managed to escape before their crystals were removed. (115, 119) Several large groups of people were also targeted for their Pure Heart Crystals. These included the customers of Flower Shop Flower Teruno (121), the students attending the national practice exams at Mugen Academy (122), Mugen Academy's own students (123) and the various victims of Rangy. (127) If the mass removals of Pure Heart Crystals towards the end of the series are anything to go by, almost all humans appear to possess the objects. The only human who was seen not to have a crystal was Viluy in Episode 122, which suggests that Pure Heart Crystals are not found in especially evil individuals.

The name used by Chibi Usa to refer to Sailor Pluto. (075) When Chibi Usa first arrived in the twentieth century, she repeatedly contacted Sailor Pluto via Luna-P, always referring to her by this nickname. Sailor Pluto instructed Chibi Usa to find the Silver Crystal, as it was the only way of helping her mother. (064) Her identity was revealed to the Sailor Team of the twentieth century after Chibi Usa was haunted by the Droid Jakoku, placing her in a comatose state. Sailor Pluto revealed her existence in order to aid the Sailor Team in saving Chibi Usa. (075)
An attraction at the TA Culture Festival which proved too intellectually challenging for Tsukino Usagi. (054)
