Rainbow CrystalsFragments of the Silver Crystal, inside which the Seven Great Youma were sealed in ancient times. The monsters were eventually reincarnated on Earth as normal humans (well, in most cases), but Queen Beryl discovered their existence, and sent Zoisite to forcibly remove the Rainbow Crystals using the Black Crystal. Combining all seven crystals was said to reveal the Silver Crystal, and their removal from the hosts resurrected one of the Seven Great Youma. (025) Tuxedo Kamen was also intent on collecting them in order to work out his past and identity, whilst the Sailor Senshi were keen to prevent them from falling into the wrong hands. (026) The Red, Green, Blue and Indigo crystals were originally captured by Zoisite (025, 028, 029, 030); the Orange and Violet crystals by Tuxedo Kamen (026, 031), and the Yellow Crystal by the Sailor Senshi (027), although this was later taken by Zoisite. (032) Tuxedo Kamen used the Orange Crystal to gain knowledge of his true identity. (026) Zoisite, having discovered that Chiba Mamoru was Tuxedo Kamen, lured him to the Star Light Tower for a supposed duel for the remaining crystals. In reality, the duel was a trick, and Kunzite stole the crystals as soon as Mamoru put them down. His ownership proved only temporary, however. Mamoru and Tsukino Usagi transformed to face Zoisite, and Tuxedo Kamen was stabbed and mortally wounded. Sailor Moon's grief caused the Rainbow Crystals to return to her, combining with a single tear to form the Silver Crystal. (034) The seven Rainbow Crystal holders were: Crane Game Joe (Red Crystal, 025), a priest (Orange Crystal, 026), Urawa Ryou (Yellow Crystal, 027), Yumeno Yumemi (Green Crystal, 028), Nishimura Reika (Blue Crystal, 029), Rei's Grandfather (Indigo Crystal, 030) and Rhett Butler (Violet Crystal, 031).
Rain from the HeartA song composed and performed by jazz pianist Amade Yusuke, and released on CD. The song was a favourite of Osaka Naru's. (006)
Ramua
Rangy maintained the red complexion of an undifferentiated Daimon, and appeared to be a less perfect example of fusion than previous Daimons. She had no facial features aside from her yellow eyes, and her form was still highly malleable, allowing her to stretch and contort her limbs with ease. She wore a metal helmet on her head, while the main section of the oven appeared to be embedded in her lower torso. Driven by an instinctive urge to steal Pure Heart Crystals, Rangy created a large glass flask in order to store them. She apparently had the extraordinary ability to remove the crystals remotely, leading to many people losing consciousness unexpectedly as their Pure Heart Crystals were removed. Rangy was also able to fire explosive pulses of energy from the oven in her torso, and could snap wires off her body, which could then be used to give her opponents electrical shocks. Rangy's activities were eventually discovered by Luna and Artemis, who alerted the Sailor Team and Tuxedo Kamen. They confronted the Daimon at her base in the ruins of Mugen Academy, but were surprised at her agility and thus completely outmanoeuvred. However, the tide was turned by the sudden appearance of Sailor Chibi Moon through a time portal, who managed to distract Rangy with Pink Sugar Heart Attack. Tuxedo Kamen then embedded a rose in the Daimon's head, stunning her for long enough for Sailor Moon to perform Moon Spiral Heart Attack. Rangy was hit by the attack and reverted to the form of the oven, which promptly exploded. (127)
A manga series owned by Hino Rei, which Tsukino Usagi read during a visit to the Hikawa Shrine. (070)
Reci drained energy from Osaka Naru, Umino Gurio, Sakurada Haruna and at least seven others before Tsukino Usagi and her friends were alerted to her presence. While searching for her, Mizuno Ami, Hino Rei, Kino Makoto and Aino Minako were caught by her and trapped in energy streams. Usagi transformed into Sailor Moon to fight her, but her Moon Tiara Action attack failed, and as the Cardian tackled her, her transformation brooch shattered, leaving her defenceless. Reci allowed Usagi and Luna to slip down an energy well she had created, and turned her attention to Artemis, the only remaining opposition. However, Sailor Moon soon emerged from the ground with Luna, her transformation now restored and upgraded thanks to Queen Serenity. The Moonlight Knight intervened to buy Sailor Moon some time, momentarily impeding Reci in her attack. Meanwhile, Sailor Moon obtained the Cutie Moon Rod, with which she performed Moon Princess Halation for the first time, killing Reci and releasing her friends. (051)
An instrument played by Umino Gurio, although not very well. His attempts to upstage Ginga Seijuurou's flute with an impromptu recital were not especially well received by Osaka Naru. (047)
Redman
Redman Show: Monster Fighter RedmanA live stage show performed in the Dreamland amusement park, aimed at children and featuring the popular fictional hero Redman and his enemy Aodine. Furuhata Motoki obtained two tickets to the show, which he offered to Tsukino Usagi and Osaka Naru. Although Naru felt that they were too old for the show, Usagi accepted the tickets and told Naru to go with Umino Gurio, hoping that it would bring them closer together. The show was disrupted by Zoisite, who intended to attack Naru but ended up transforming the actor playing Redman into a Youma. The monster was eventually defeated by Sailor Moon, and the audience seemed content to believe that the disruption was simply part of the show. (032)
An attack used by the Daimon U-Baulla, the details of which are unknown. She attempted to use this attack against Sailor Moon, but was interrupted by Sailor Chibi Moon's Pink Sugar Heart Attack. (116)
RegulusNephrite called on the power of this star to show him Sailor Moon's weakness. The revelation persuaded him to disguise himself as Tuxedo Kamen in order to lure her out. When Sailor Moon and the real Tuxedo Kamen confronted him, he called upon Regulus again to give him power, creating the Youma Leo. (019)
Rei's Grandfather
Rei's Grandfather was actually the reincarnation of the Youma Jiji, who was revived when Zoisite removed the Indigo Rainbow Crystal from his body. Zoisite's first attempt to take the crystal caused the Youma to awaken only partially, causing him to exhibit eccentric behaviour. The crystal was successfully removed on the second attempt, but he was returned to normal by Sailor Moon, and remembered nothing. (030) Rei's Grandfather became an unwitting victim of the Cardian Seiren when he visited the TA Culture Festival. The monster drained his energy, but it was returned to him after the Sailor Team defeated her, and he suffered no apparent ill effects. (054) Later, he was sedated by Chibi Usa, who tried to use his identity to incapacitate Tsukino Usagi and her friends. (060) Rei's Grandfather was horrified after his behaviour became the subject of an article in Nanako magazine. The magazine warned its young female readership that there was a perverted old man at the Hikawa Shrine. As a result, the number of girls visiting the shrine dropped considerably, and the perverted old man in question lapsed into depression, considering retirement. However, he soon bounced back with a plan as ambitious as it was mad. Project Esthe was conceived as a combination of self defence and callisthenics, and applications to take part soared as Yuuichirou was given the role of head coach. However, the enterprise coincided with Koan's attempt to contaminate the shrine with Dark Power, and the resulting battle marked the end of the project. Ever resourceful, however, Rei's Grandfather was soon working with Yuuichirou again on the equally baffling Project Jazz Dance. (063) Despite his many appearances, we never find out Rei's Grandfather's real name.

Rhett Butler
Rhett Butler had another brush with the Dark Kingdom a few months later, when Prince Endymion kidnapped him and sealed him in the Black Crystal. The cat remained unperturbed by this turn of events, however, and was eventually freed by Sailor Mercury. (041) There is evidence that Rhett Butler, like many Rainbow Crystal holders, has a psychic power, as he is able to tell instantly when Luna is in danger, a la Tuxedo Kamen.
Much like Tellu's Mandragora Buster, the Ribbon Buster is never named on-screen. However, the second Sailor Moon S Nakayoshi guide lists Cyprine's main attack as "Ribbon Buster", presumably referring to the attack she is seen performing in Episode 123.

During his mission in the twentieth century, Rubeus travelled and resided in a large black UFO. (060) His immense power was directly tied to that of his ship, and both were regulated by a large chunk of crystal that served as the UFO's control mechanism. (074) Rubeus once proposed locating Chibi Usa via her fear of thunder, using Petz's Droid Furaiki to create a thunderstorm in the hopes that the child would release her characteristic energy. Although the plan succeeded in provoking a response from Chibi Usa, the Droid was quickly dispatched by Sailor Moon, and Petz opted to withdraw. (064) Rubeus generally preferred to let the Phantom Sisters fight battles for him, but he was a capable fighter in his own right. During a battle in which he tried to kill Chibi Usa, Rubeus came close to defeating Sailor Moon with an energy attack. However, Sailor Moon turned the tables on him, injuring him with her Moon Princess Halation attack and forcing him to withdraw. (068) Rubeus was aware of Koan's romantic feelings towards him, and used them to his advantage. After Wiseman informed him that Koan may not return from her next mission, Rubeus manipulated Koan's feelings, forcing her into a mission that he assumed would kill her. After she failed to kill Chibi Usa, Rubeus rejected her outright and left her a space-time bomb, expecting her to take out Sailor Mars in a suicidal rage. However, Koan was persuaded to defect and was purified by Sailor Moon, leaving Rubeus to ponder the loyalty of his remaining forces. (070) Sure enough, on her next mission Berthier opted to join Koan after being betrayed by her older sisters. (071) Wiseman then told Rubeus that he risked humiliation if he didn't do everything possible to ensure victory. With this in mind, Rubeus sent Petz and Calaveras on a mission to kill the Sailor Team, equipped with a staff that greatly boosted attack power. However, he failed to inform them that the staff also caused emotional instability and was primed to create a black hole on his command. Petz and Calaveras succeeded in luring the Sailor Team into a trap by kidnapping Koan and Berthier, but Calaveras soon became aware of the strange effect the staff was having on Petz. The Sailor Team offered to assist, and the staff was blasted out of Petz's hands by Sailor Venus. Rubeus then materialised overhead, and informed Petz and Calaveras that they would be sacrificed in order to ensure the deaths of the Sailor Team. He triggered the black hole mechanism in the staff, creating a dangerous singularity that looked certain to engulf the Sailor Team and the Phantom Sisters. Although Petz failed to destroy the staff, the Sailor Team combined their powers and used Sailor Planet Power to neutralise it. Petz and Calaveras also agreed to defect, and although Rubeus was now without troops, he discovered that Sailor Moon held the Silver Crystal. (072) Unfortunately for Rubeus, Prince Dimande had grown tired of his failures and appointed Esmeraude as his replacement. Esmeraude appeared in the UFO and gleefully announced the news, and as a result Rubeus became increasingly desperate to satisfy his superiors. His luck appeared to have changed when Wiseman informed him that the 'Rabbit' now had the Silver Crystal. Soon after, Rubeus detected one of Chibi Usa's energy discharges and attempted to abduct her, but she was rescued by the Sailor Team. Eventually Chibi Usa was separated from her guardians attempted to use the Space-Time Key to open a portal home. Rubeus detected the use of the key and brought his UFO directly into view above Tokyo. He tried to beam Chibi Usa into the ship, but she was protected again by the Sailor Team and taken to safety by Tuxedo Kamen. Instead, he pulled Sailor Mercury, Sailor Mars, Sailor Jupiter and Sailor Venus inside the vessel. (073) Rubeus used the captured members of the Sailor Team as hostages, demanding that Sailor Moon handed over both Chibi Usa and the Silver Crystal or else they would be killed. He expected Sailor Moon to put up a fight, but was confident that he could kill her. Sailor Moon and Chibi Usa both came out to face him, and they were beamed onto the UFO, which lifted off into space. Sailor Moon tried to fight against Rubeus, but he increased the level of gravity inside the ship, pinning Sailor Moon down. Rubeus, meanwhile, was unaffected by the high gravity due to his synchronisation with the ship. Chibi Usa attempted to get to the captured Sailor Team, but was blocked by a force field powered by the ship's main crystal. Despite the massively increased gravity, Sailor Moon continued to fight. Surprised at her resilience, Rubeus returned the gravity to normal and decided to fight one-on-one. During the battle, Chibi Usa struggled to remove the main crystal from its socket, but was repeatedly repelled by its energy output. She continued to try, however, and when she looked close to succeeding, Rubeus tried to stop her. Sailor Moon blasted him with Moon Princess Halation while he was distracted, and he only just managed to deflect it. Chibi Usa finally managed to remove the crystal, crippling Rubeus' power and leaving him defenceless against Sailor Moon's attack. The loss of the crystal released the Sailor Team from captivity but also caused the UFO to veer out of control. Rubeus announced that the ship would soon explode, killing everyone. He was suddenly engulfed in flames, while the Sailor Team used Sailor Teleport to transport themselves and Chibi Usa back to Earth. Rubeus, now trapped aboard the doomed ship, was relieved when Esmeraude appeared before him. However, she refused to help him, saying that it was better for him to die than return to the future as a failure. Esmeraude left without him, and Rubeus was killed as the UFO exploded in Earth's orbit. (074)
