Yakushiji Kakusui

(Hashimoto Koichi)

Yakushiji KakusuiA monk who followed Nichiren Buddhism. According to Eudial's records, he was 183 cm tall and weighed 67 kg.

Kakusui had been living in the mountains for four years and four months, intent on discovering the meaning of life through meditation. He allegedly ran fifty laps around the mountains every day, and was in peak physical condition. Despite his dedication, he maintained a sense of humour, and was known to fall asleep during particularly long bouts of meditation.

Kino Makoto came to train with Kakusui after worrying that she was not powerful enough. Kakusui advised her that nobody can live in isolation, and that she should learn to trust in the power of others as well as herself. Shortly afterwards, Kakusui was targeted by Eudial of the Death Busters, who used her Capture Gun to remove his Pure Heart Crystal. Makoto witnessed the attack and transformed into Sailor Jupiter, while Tsukino Usagi, who was also nearby, transformed into Sailor Moon. Sailor Jupiter was confronted by Eudial's Daimon, Daruma, and the two began to fight. Meanwhile. the rest of the Sailor Team arrived along with Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, who determined that Kakusui's Pure Heart Crystal was not a talisman and returned it to him. Eudial withdrew, leaving Daruma to battle the Sailor Team. Inspired by Kakusui's advice, Sailor Jupiter combined her power with that of her companions, and managed to destroy the Daimon. Kakusui, meanwhile, quickly recovered from his ordeal. (105)

Yamada Katsutoshi

(Nishimura Tomohiro)

Yamada KatsutoshiA Motocross competitor who was beaten by Tenoh Haruka. Yamada's team-mates were furious that he had been defeated by a woman, and planned to exact revenge by attacking her, but Yamada stopped them, saying it was up to him to win the next race. Nevertheless, his team-mates continued to stalk Haruka, and were only persuaded to stop after they discovered firsthand that Haruka was much stronger than they were. Meanwhile, Yamada himself went back to training, but was targeted by Kaolinite in an attempt to lure Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune into a trap. A Daimon Egg fused with his motorbike, transforming it into the Daimon Taiyan, who removed his Pure Heart Crystal. Sailor Neptune did indeed arrive shortly afterwards, retrieving the crystal from the Daimon and returning it to Yamada. Yamada then fled the scene on Sailor Neptune's advice. (098)

Yamaha TZR 250

The brand of motorbike owned by Tenoh Haruka. On one occasion she almost knocked down Tsukino Usagi and Kino Makoto, but Makoto's quick reactions prevented an accident. (096)

Yamamoto Saeko

(Sasaki Yuko)

Yamamoto SaekoWinner of Moonlight Course's first annual Moon Princess Contest. As such, she was an accomplished skier and was called upon to host the fourth competition, which Tsukino Usagi and Hino Rei had decided to enter. Shortly before the event, Saeko was attacked by Kunzite, brainwashed into serving the Dark Kingdom, and given Youma powers.

Instructed to find the identity of Sailor Moon, Saeko used her powers to manipulate the slopes, tripping nearly all of the competitors. Only Usagi and Rei managed to avoid tripping, and Saeko decided that one of them must be Sailor Moon. She challenged the pair by causing an avalanche, creating a giant snowball that pursued them down the slopes and engulfed Kumada Yuuichirou, who had come to help. Finally, she transformed into her Youma form, Blizzar, and triggered an earthquake which trapped Usagi and Rei in a chasm.

Saeko confronted the girls (and a stunned Yuuichirou) by transforming into Blizzar for a second time. A battle ensued in which Yuuichirou was frozen and Blizzar falsely accused Rei of being Sailor Moon. The brainwashed Prince Endymion then appeared, taking over from Blizzar before experiencing a change of heart and turning on the monster. Sailor Moon used Moon Healing Escalation to permanently restore Saeko's personality. (038)

Yamandakka

(Kawashima Chiyoko)

YamandakkaThe last Cardian employed by Ail and An in their bid to harvest energy for the Makaiju. Yamandakka was a flying Cardian with six arms and four faces, each of which illustrated a different emotion (happiness, anger, sadness and humour). She could drain energy from large groups of people simultaneously by depositing giant petals that sucked out energy upon contact.

Realising that the Makaiju was close to death, Ail and An commanded Yamandakka to collect large amounts of energy. She attacked a Sailor Moon Show in Juuban, taking almost all of the energy from the actors and audience. The energy appeared to have no effect on the Makaiju, however. Later, Ail instructed Yamandakka to pour energy into a sprout that had suddenly emerged from the Makaiju, but upon doing this, the sprout immediately died off. Finally, she was given the task of transferring energy from Tsukino Usagi into the Makaiju after An pushed her into the Makaiju's room. This caused the Makaiju to react violently, wrestling Yamandakka away and expanding to fill the entire Juuban Odyssey complex. (058)

Yamandakka is the only known Cardian not to have been killed by the Sailor Senshi- although there were apparently more, as Ail still had more cards remaining. Yamandakka's fate is unknown, but assuming she survived the Makaiju's wrath, it's likely that she returned to her card form.

A city within the Greater Tokyo area. Tsukino Usagi and Umino Gurio took Osaka Naru to the city to help her get over Nephrite's death. Yokohama was also home to a priest who held the Orange Rainbow Crystal, and a battle ensued when Zoisite tried to take it. (026)

You Can Make Your Own Curry Dishes From Around the World

One of the advanced books owned by Chiba Mamoru. (108)

Youma

Monsters employed by the Dark Kingdom for energy gathering and combat. Most Youma were female, although Youma created from humans retained their original gender, and hence some were male. Queen Beryl and her generals all owned their own Youma. (001, 025)

Jadeite's Youma were employed as field operatives, and shared the ability to disguise themselves as humans- sometimes posing as another human. However, they revealed their true form once in battle. (001, 007)

Nephrite's Youma tactics involved placing the essence of a Youma into an object owned by his chosen victim. This led the victim to become obsessive about their chosen passion, allowing the Youma to emerge from the object and take their energy when it reached its peak. (014)

The Youma owned by Zoisite were strong and skilled in combat, (023, 024) but in his missions to retrieve the seven Rainbow Crystals, he came to rely upon the Seven Great Youma, one of whom could be revived when a Rainbow Crystal was removed from its holder. (025) Once all of the Rainbow Crystals had been found, Zoisite modified the Black Crystal, giving it the power to transform ordinary humans into Youma. (032)

Kunzite possessed this power naturally, and his tactics involved brainwashing humans who were then granted the ability to change between human and Youma forms, often at will. (036, 038)

The Sailor Senshi routinely killed the Youma of Jadeite and Nephrite, but the Seven Great Youma and the subsequent wave of artificially created Youma presented a problem: they all had a human host, and killing the Youma outright would also kill an innocent human. Fortunately, Sailor Moon received the Moon Stick from Luna, which enabled her to perform Moon Healing Escalation. This purifying attack would remove the Youma's influence, whilst restoring the personality and appearance of the host. (025)

Most Youma appeared to be at least as intelligent as an average human. This attribute appeared to vary somewhat amongst the Seven Great Youma, and there is some evidence to suggest that gender may have played a role, as the male Youma displayed significantly less intelligence than the females. (025, 029)

Any remaining Youma were destroyed when Sailor Moon wiped out the Dark Kingdom with the Silver Crystal. (046)

Native Youma were: Morga (001), Balm (002), Flowa (003), Iguara (005), Kyurene (006), Derella (007), Garoben (008), Ramua (009), Kigaan (010), Murid (011), Thetis (012), Tesuni (014), Petasos (015), Widow (016), Cameran (017), Jumo (018), Leo (019), Castor,  Pollux (021) and the DD Girls. (045)

The Seven Great Youma were: Gesen (025), Boxy, (026), Bunbo (027), Vena (028), Rikoukeidar (029), Jiji (030) and Bakene. (031)

Artificially created Youma were: Akan (032), Mitsuami (036), Shakoukai (037), Blizzar (038), the Doringelars (039), Papillon (042) and Oniwabandana (043).

Your Handmade Wedding Dress Contest

A contest held by the management of Juuban Hall, offering a free wedding reception to the maker of the best wedding dress. The runner-up prizes were a VCR and a CD player. Tsukino Usagi and Hino Rei both intended to enter the contest, but were scuppered by their general inability to sew. Akiyama Higure, with her wedding approaching, also decided to enter the contest, but was chosen as a target by Nephrite and became obsessed with completing the dress. The hypnotised Higure then hijacked the contest, rendering the host and audience unconscious, until her energy peaked and Nephrite's Youma Widow was released from her dress. The monster was defeated by Sailor Moon, and Higure returned to normal. (016)

Yui

(Nanba Chieko)

YuiA friend of Aya and a fan of the Sailor Team. She and Aya discussed the relative merits of the various Sailor Senshi at some length during a visit to the Dam Cam cafe. Their conversation was overheard by Tsukino Usagi and Chibi Usa. Despite her detailed knowledge of the Sailor Team, Yui had to be reminded of Sailor Moon's existence by a frustrated Usagi. (MUSS)

Yumeno Yumemi

(Fuchizaki Yuriko)

Yumeno YumemiA reclusive artist famous for her romantic illustrations. Yumemi was never seen in public, but her self-portrait depicted her as a glamorous beauty. The image was simply a facade, and Yumemi lived in quiet isolation. During an exhibition of her work in Juuban Gallery, she chose Tsukino Usagi and Chiba Mamoru to model for her. Many of her illustrations proved nostalgic to the pair, as they appeared to depict Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion in the Silver Millennium. Yumemi said that drawing the pair always made her feel sad.

Yumemi was the reincarnation of the Youma Vena, and the holder of the Green Rainbow Crystal. As such, she was attacked in her home by Zoisite and transformed into Vena. After a battle with the Sailor Senshi she was returned to her original form by Sailor Moon. She later replaced her self-portrait with an accurate portrayal of herself, after Usagi advised her to be proud of her strengths. (028)

Yumemi made the news a few months later when she mysteriously disappeared. She had actually become the fifth former Rainbow Crystal holder to be abducted by Prince Endymion, and was sealed inside the Black Crystal. She was released when Sailor Mercury destroyed the crystal a short while afterwards. (041)

Yumemi's apparent ability to see Usagi and Mamoru's past lives indicates a psychic power, most likely due to her status as a Rainbow Crystal holder.
