Zoisite(Nanba Keiichi)
Unlike his predecessors, Zoisite usually refrained from direct confrontations, preferring to rely on wit and subterfuge, but had numerous magical powers including telekinesis and the ability to create fire and storms of blossoms. (028, 034) As the lover of Kunzite, the pair conspired together to unseat their rival Nephrite from his position of power. While Nephrite was gathering human energy and fighting the Sailor Senshi, Zoisite was assigned to find the Silver Crystal. When Nephrite announced his intention to pursue the Silver Crystal as well, creating the Black Crystal to aid in the search, Zoisite and Kunzite prepared to make their move. (022) Zoisite sent his Youma Yasha after Nephrite, with the intention of stealing the Silver Crystal if Nephrite found it. Although Yasha was killed by Sailor Moon, Zoisite found out about Nephrite's interest in Osaka Naru. In a subsequent operation, he instructed his Youma Grape, Housenka and Suzuran to kidnap Naru, demanding the Black Crystal as a ransom. Nephrite rescued Naru but was later killed by the Youma, and possession of the Black Crystal passed to Zoisite. (023, 024) Queen Beryl instructed Zoisite to use the modified Black Crystal to locate the reincarnations of the Seven Great Youma and extract Rainbow Crystals from them. Locked in a three-way battle for the crystals with the Sailor Senshi and Tuxedo Kamen, Zoisite managed to obtain four of the seven crystals. He modified the Black Crystal again, giving it the power to turn any human into a Youma, and with this power was able to steal another Rainbow Crystal from Sailor Moon. (032) With the help of Kunzite, he plotted to steal the two remaining crystals from Tuxedo Kamen. He disguised himself as Sailor Moon and lured both Tuxedo Kamen and the Sailor Senshi out of the city. While Kunzite dealt with the Sailor Senshi, Zoisite managed to injure Tuxedo Kamen, but his plan was interrupted by the arrival of Sailor Venus. As Queen Beryl discovered the identity of Tuxedo Kamen, she ordered Zoisite and Kunzite to withdraw. (033) She later instructed them to capture Tuxedo Kamen alive. Zoisite, now aware of Tuxedo Kamen's true identity, contacted Chiba Mamoru and invited him to the Star Light Tower for a duel to determine ownership of the Rainbow Crystals. Both Mamoru and Tsukino Usagi were transported inside the tower, and Zoisite managed to trick Mamoru into giving his Rainbow Crystals to Kunzite, but not before his face was scarred by one of Mamoru's roses. Vowing revenge, he tried to kill Mamoru and Usagi, intending to tell Beryl that Mamoru's death was accidental, but was caught off-guard when Usagi transformed into Sailor Moon. He challenged the now transformed Tuxedo Kamen to another fight, but used his telekinesis to stab him in the back with a shard of crystal. This triggered a bizarre series of events: the horrified Sailor Moon subconsciously activated the Rainbow Crystals, drawing them back towards her whereupon they combined with one of her tears to form the Silver Crystal. As the Silver Crystal fused with the Moon Stick, Sailor Moon transformed into Princess Serenity. (034) Understandably shocked at this turn of events, Zoisite tried to kill her, but his attacks were deflected with such force that he was blown into a wall and incapacitated. He escaped thanks to the intervention of Kunzite, who also kidnapped the unconscious Tuxedo Kamen. Upon returning to the Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl was furious with Zoisite for disobeying her orders and attempting to kill Tuxedo Kamen. Despite Kunzite's attempts to intervene, Beryl punished Zoisite with a lethal blast of energy. He died a short time later in Kunzite's arms, professing his love for his partner. His last request was to “die beautifully”, and Kunzite honoured this by summoning a sea of flowers as he died. (035) Zoisite owned the Youma Yasha (023), Grape, Housenka and Suzuran. (024) He later used the Seven Great Youma in battle (025), then used the further modified Black Crystal to create the Youma Akan. (032) |
